“The Bucket List”—The name of a popular movie that refers to the things that one hopes to do before he/she “kicks the bucket.” That’s where Susan and I find ourselves since we sold our company, Healing Healthcare Systems, two years ago. Divesting ourselves of HHS after thirty years created the space for more travel and more music, which are the two pillars of my personal bucket list.
Twenty-four years ago Susan and I began our healthcare careers with the goal of bringing music into hospitals to create healing environments. This led to the development of the C.A.R.E. Channel, a 24-hour channel that provides peaceful music and beautiful nature images.

This two-week tour of Turkey was managed by Go Ahead Vacations, a Boston-based tour company. Susan and I had traveled using their services once before, to Italy in 2006. We decided that for a country like Turkey, with which we were completely unfamiliar, that going with an organized tour was the best way to see the most sights in a short time without having to worry about managing any of the details ourselves. . .
The Vietnam War, as it is known to Americans, is known in Vietnam as the American War. Vietnam has suffered through wars with the French and the Chinese. But Vietnam's victory over the US military in 1973 demonstrated the limits of US military hardware against a people defending their home territory. The US faced this lesson again in Afghanistan. The United States of America's military budget is larger than the combined military budgets of the next nine countries. We cannot trust that we will remain safe in the world solely because of our tremendous military expenditures.
No, I have not traveled to Iran, but my across-the-street neighbor just returned from a one month visit to his hometown of Shiraz, Iran. My neighbor’s Iranian name is Parvez.
