During the two days of the Transform 2013 conference in Rochester, Minnesota, sponsored by the Mayo Clinic, I took notes during the series of eighteen-minute talks on a wide variety of healthcare subjects. There were too many points made to communicate all of them in this brief blog.
We live in interesting times. Consider Syria…After being in the air flying back to Reno during the president’s speech, I’ve been listening to the re-broadcast and talking heads. The most compelling question begging for a military strike is: Would our lack of response to this poison attack encourage more such attacks in the future? Now[…]
Välkomna till Sverige! (Welcome to Sweden, Y’all!) Let me describe Sweden at “midsommar,” the longest day of the year (June 21). This day is one of Sweden’s biggest holidays for good reason…It’s the most beautiful time of year in Scandinavia, the season of the “midnight sun.” The midnight sun is only visible as far south[…]
Statistics say that Qatar is the richest country in the world measured by per capita income for its citizens (approx. 185,000). This is my third trip to Israel. My wife Susan’s sister and brother-in-law live in Rehovot, a city close to Tel Aviv. We’ve always felt safe when visiting Israel. My perspective on Israel is necessarily an American one. Israelis (including my relatives here) disagree with some of my conclusions. In any case, the closer perspective[…]
After the conference in Dallas, prior to driving south to the city of Waco, Susan and I had the opportunity to visit the new science museum founded by Texas mega-personality Ross Perot. In the 1960’s Perot founded Electronic Data Systems (EDS), which was the first company to offer network[…]
